James Wright // Producer, Director
James is a seasoned producer of factual programmes with a back-catalogue of shows on space, physics, engineering, history and human interest. He’s been in the industry since 2012, and for the last five years has been producing and directing programmes across Europe and the United States, filming in remote and forgotten regions, hazardous environments, and high security institutions including NASA and the Large Hadron Collider.
James’ passion is to find story in all places. In an abandoned sports arena he uncovered how professional wrestling struck a blow for civil rights.
Inside CERN James charted the Casanova-life of a proton; from first love to bitter breakup.
James has worked in all sorts of environments including the lava tubes of a dormant volcano, the freezing North American tundra, the mediterranean oven, operating theatres, dangerous workplaces, and hazardous abandoned buildings.
James has a passion for making science easy to understand and fun to learn, with demos and CGI. He’s not afraid to add humour in his writing, but he also has an eye for the drama and can deliver the dramatic gut-punch in history stories.
James’ recent credits include Tony Robinsons’s Marvellous Machines (UKTV/Intl.) Hitler’s Engineers: Building the Third Reich (Sky History/Intl) and Secrets of the Lost Ark (Discovery+, ITV).
Outside of TV James is a space geek, enthusiastic cook, and lego collector.
